Question:

176 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Justice the number and names of persons other than those in the permanent Civil Service, who have been appointed to positions in her Department or other agencies within the ambit of her Department, including Offices of Ministers of State, since the formation of the Government; if she will give details in each case of their job description and conditions of employment, terms of employment, their rank and salary or allowances; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

1. Mr. John Gallahue, Special Adviser to the Minister of State

To advise the Minister of State on policy matters.

£240.60 p.w.

Driving duties.

3. Ms. Louise O'Rourke, Temporary Clerical Assistant (Courts Service)

£33.22 per day worked

To perform clerical duties during the absence of an officer on maternity leave for the period 2 February-15 March 1993.

The appointments in respect of the posts listed at 1 and 2 above are to temporary unestablished positions in the Civil Service and they terminate not later than the date on which the Minister or Minister of State, as the case may be, ceases to hold that office. They are subject to the Civil Service Regulation Acts, 1956 and 1958 and any other Act in force relating to the Civil Service.
In addition to the foregoing, the Dáil Secretaries of both Ministers, Ms. Diana Deering and Ms. Olive McNamara, have been brought into the Department to continue their existing duties.
