Vol. 425 No. 7

Written Answers. - Cork Courthouse Accommodation.

Máirín Quill

Question:

190 Miss Quill asked the Minister for Justice the position in relation to efforts to secure additional courtroom space in Cork city to alleviate the current chaotic and overcrowded conditions at Cork Courthouse; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

While not accepting the Deputy's description of the conditions at Cork Courthouse, I am aware that conditions there are less than ideal. To deal with these accommodation difficulties, the Office of Public Works was asked to conduct a study of what might be undertaken locally. That office reported to my Department last week and I expect to make decisions on the matter in the near future.
