Vol. 425 No. 7

Written Answers. - Sligo Relief Road.

John Ellis

Question:

249 Mr. Ellis asked the Minister for the Environment if he will review the proposed routing of the mid-block route in Sligo; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Last June, Sligo Corporation submitted an environmental impact statement to me for the proposed Sligo relief road, generally known as the mid-block route, and applied for certification for this development in accordance with Article 38 of the Local Government (Planning and Development) Regulations, 1990, as amended. The environmental impact statement, and all submissions received within the statutory period in relation to the effects on the environment of the proposed development, are currently under examination. In view of my quasi-judicial role in relation to the environmental impact assessment process, it would not be appropriate to comment further in the matter until this examination has been completed.
