Vol. 425 No. 7

Written Answers. - Kilkenny Quay Protection.

Phil Hogan

Question:

264 Mr. Hogan asked the Minister for the Environment if he will provide the necessary funding to build a retaining wall at St. John's Quay, County Kilkenny, which has been the subject of serious flooding over the years; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The proposal in question originated from residents in the area and was passed by my Department for consideration to Kilkenny Corporation. The corporation have indicated that in their view the proposal would not be suitable but that a solution should instead be sought in the context of a larger scheme, detailed proposals for which are awaited in my Department.
