Vol. 425 No. 7

Written Answers. - Sligo Storm Damage.

Edward Nealon

Question:

298 Mr. Nealon asked the Minister for the Marine if his attention has been drawn to the widespread damage caused along the coastline from Strandhill to Enniscrone, west Sligo, during the very severe storms in January, 1993; if a survey of this damage has been carried out on behalf of his Department; the plans, if any, which are being made for the repair of the damage and for coastal protection against further damage; the channels, if any, which are available to farmers, fishermen and others who suffered substantial losses arising directly out of these storms.

This is a matter for local authorities in the first instance. The Department has not received any submission in relation to the areas mentioned.

The Department has no funds at its disposal to grant aid storm damage repairs in 1993.
