Vol. 425 No. 7

Written Answers. - Farm Improvement Programme.

Tony Gregory

Question:

332 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the number of applications received in 1992 under the farm development grant scheme; the number of grants paid out; and the number of applications turned down because work had started before written approval was given.

In 1992 a total of 3,565 new applications were received and 6,100 grants paid under the farm improvement programme.

There are no statistics available as to how many applicants were turned down because they had commenced work prior to the issue of approval. However as the works concerned are carried out as part of a recognised farm plan, it is unlikely that there would have been many such cases.
