Proinsias De Rossa

Question:

398 Proinsias De Rossa asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry if all Ministers of State at his Department have been given clear indications of their areas of responsibility; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 394 and 398 together. At its meeting on 27 January 1993, the Government approved the following two Orders which delegate functions to both Ministers of State at my Department: (1) Agriculture, Food and Forestry (Delegation of Ministerial Functions) Order, 1993. (2) Agriculture, Food and Forestry (Delegation of Ministerial Functions) (No. 2) Order 1993.

Arrangements are in train to have the Orders laid before both Houses. Apart from the statutory functions contained in both Orders, other responsibilities have been assigned administratively to both Ministers of State.
