Vol. 425 No. 7

Written Answers. - EC Forest Health Surveys.

Bernard Allen

Question:

397 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry if, in view of the European Commission's Fourth Annual Report on the state of Europe's forests which shows that one-fifth of all trees are affected by environmental pollution, a survey has been carried out in this country on the effect of the environment on our tree population; and if so, the results of that survey.

The Forest Service has participated in EC forest health surveys under the Community scheme for the protection of forests against atmospheric pollution. No evidence of air pollution damage has been found.
