Vol. 425 No. 7

Written Answers. - Disabled Person's Maintenance Allowance.

Seán Barrett

Question:

468 Mr. Barrett asked the Minister for Health if his attention has been drawn to the case of a person (details supplied) in County Dublin in receipt of a disabled person's maintenance allowance who has had her book withdrawn since becoming a resident of the Cheshire Home in Monkstown, County Dublin leaving her in a position where she has no allowance of any kind from the State and is totally dependent on charity; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I have had inquiries made of both the Monkstown Cheshire Home and the Eastern Health Board about this case. The person in question is in receipt of a weekly allowance of £15 from the home which is funded by the health board as part of its allocation to the home. In addition the person is in receipt of a mobility allowance of £34.66 per month from the health board.
