Vol. 425 No. 7

Written Answers. - Navan (Meath) Hospital.

John Bruton

Question:

473 Mr. J. Bruton asked the Minister for Health the plans, if any, he has for Our Lady's Hospital, Navan, County Meath, in the context of the rationalisation of North-Eastern Health Board sources.

The organisation and provisions of services at Our Lady's Hospital, Navan, is a matter in the first instance for the North-Eastern Health Board. The Deputy may be referring to the review of consultant manpower by Comhairle na nOspidéal and/or the review of services and organisations within the region being carried out by the North-Eastern Health Board itself. I understand that neither of these reports have yet been finalised. I will, of course, give careful consideration to the reports when I receive them.

The present position regarding Our Lady's Hospital, Navan, is that approval was given last year to the completion of the planning of a new out-patients' department at the hospital. The planning of the new out-patients' department is proceeding in conjunction with the planning of an acute psychiatric unit at the hospital.
