485 Mr. D. Ahern asked the Minister for Education if her attention has been drawn to the need for sanction for a new school building at Scoil Chríost Rí, Muirhavenamore, Dundalk, County Louth, which has been awaited for the last 12 years; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

Question:

500 Mr. D. Ahern asked the Minister for Education if she will give an assurance that the new school at Scoil Chríost Rí, Dundalk, County Louth will be included for commencement in 1993 in view of the fact that it has remained in prefab accommodation since 1979 without an office, a library, a hall, storage facilities, a playground or carpark facilities; if her attention has been drawn to the extreme hardship being experienced over these years by pupils, teachers and parents; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

I propose taking Questions Nos. 485 and 500 together.

I am aware of the position in regard to accommodation at Scoil Chríost Rí, Muirhavenamore, Dundalk, County Louth. A major building project has been sanctioned and planning is at an advanced stage. It has not been included among the projects approved for inclusion in the 1993 national school capital programme. It will be considered for inclusion in the programme in due course in the light of available resources and other commitments and priorities.
