489 Mr. McCormack asked the Minister for Education her views, if any, on the study undertaken by a company (details supplied) concerning the school transport scheme operated by Bus Éireann; and if she will make a statement on the matter.
As the Minister with overall responsibility for the school transport service, I am very concerned to ensure that the system is operated in the most efficient and cost-effective manner possible.
To this end, I will shortly be considering the findings of the study to which the Deputy refers, together with a more recent consultants' report commissioned by my predecessor, with a view to determining whether adjustments to current arrangements might be desirable.
