Vol. 425 No. 7

Written Answers. - Senior Certificate Programme.

Máirín Quill

Question:

556 Miss Quill asked the Minister for Education if her attention has been drawn to the success of Senior Certificate Programmes in second level schools and that these programmes are seriously under-resourced at present; and if she intends to take appropriate steps to guarantee the continuation of such courses by establishing their official status and providing the requisite resources.

The success of the Senior Certificate programme is a source of satisfaction to me.

I do not accept that these programmes are under-resourced at present.

The future of the Senior Certificate will be considered in the context of the future structure and content of the senior cycle of second-level education. This matter is fully discussed in the Green Paper on Education and will be further considered in the light of the views expressed by the various interested parties.
