Vol. 425 No. 7

Written Answers. - Departmental Appointments.

Bernard J. Durkan

Question:

82 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs the number and names of persons other than those in the permanent Civil Service, who have been appointed to positions in his Department or other agencies within the ambit of his Department, including Offices of the Ministers of State, since the formation of the Government; if he will give details in each case of their job description and conditions of employment, terms of employment, their rank and salary or allowances; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

It is my intention to appoint Mr. Fergus Finlay as special adviser to advise me on matters relating to my portfolio and Ms. Maeve Sweeney as constituency personal assistant. Discussion on the terms and conditions of employment for these temporary appointments are continuing between my Department and the Department of Finance.

Both appointments will terminate not later than the date on which I cease to hold office as Minister for Foreign Affairs.
