Proinsias De Rossa

Question:

96 Proinsias De Rossa asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs if all Ministers of State at his Department have been given clear indications of their areas of responsibility; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 90 and 96 together.

The Government have decided that the Minister of State at my Department, Deputy Tom Kitt, should have responsibility for European Affairs and for Overseas Development Assistance. In addition, he will provide general assistance to me in carrying out functions as Minister for Foreign Affairs.

Deputy Kitt is also Minister of State at the Department of the Taoiseach with special responsibility for European Affairs.

A Delegation of Functions Order is not required in respect of these responsibilities.
