Vol. 426 No. 1

Private Business. - Comptroller and Auditor General (Amendment) Bill, 1992: Financial Resolution.

I move:

That it is expedient to make provision for the charging by the Comptroller and Auditor General of fees calculated on such basis as he may determine with the consent of the Minister for Finance in respect of audits, inspections and examinations carried out by him under any Act of the present session to amend the law relating to the Comptroller and Auditor General, to consolidate certain parts of that law and to provide for related matters."

When is it proposed to take this legislation in view of the fact that the time allocated for it tomorrow is now being taken by other legislation sponsored by his Department?

It was intended, as Deputy Bruton correctly said, to take this Bill tomorrow. We are anxious to take it at the earliest possible date, by agreement with the Whips——

What are the Government's proposals in this matter?

I have not seen the time the Whips have agreed on for tomorrow. In the normal course, it would be the back-up legislation for tomorow and would be taken next week.

Question put and agreed to.
