119 Mr. Kirk asked the Minister for Education if she will appoint a remedial teacher to Collon, Temore and Fieldstown primary schools in County Louth.

120 Mr. Kirk asked the Minister for Education if she will appoint a remedial teacher to Storetown and Louth primary schools in County Louth.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 119 and 120 together.

I am currently examining the scope for deployment of additional teaching resources to children with special educational needs.

The question of remedial teaching posts will form a key element in this consideration.

In this connection the Programme for a Partnership Government provides for the recruitment of 500 remedial teachers by September, 1996.
