Written Answers. - County Dublin Schools.

Chris Flood

Question:

123 Mr. Flood asked the Minister for Education the position with regard to the need to replace the prefab classrooms at Coláiste Bríde, Clondalkin, Dublin 22.

Architectural planning has been completed for accommodation to replace unsatisfactory prefabricated classrooms at this school. Approval for the execution of the work will be given as soon as possible, in the light of the resources available for the second-level capital programme and other commitments and priorities.

Tony Gregory

Question:

124 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Education, the plans, if any, she has to stop the intake of new pupils into the national school at Lower Rutland Street, Dublin 1, or to close or amalgamate this school; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

My Department is carrying out a review of the national school provision in the Rutland Street and surrounding areas at present. I anticipate that this review will be completed shortly.

No decisions have been taken regarding the future of the Rutland Street School pending the outcome of the review.
