Question:

125 Mr. Hogan asked the Minister for Education when an extension will be provided to Piltown national school, County Kilkenny; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

The question of the replacement of the existing prefabricated classrooms at this school is being considered in the light of the condition of the current accommodation and the future demographic trends in the area. A decision will be conveyed to the school authorities in due course.

126 Mr. Hogan asked the Minister for Education when a new vocational school will be provided at Johnstown, County Kilkenny; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

County Kilkenny Vocational Education Committee recently invited applications from contractors who wish to be considered for inclusion on a selected tendering list for the construction of a major extension to Johnstown Vocational School. The invitation of tenders will then be considered when the prequalification process has been completed.

127 Mr. Hogan asked the Minister for Education when a financial allocation will be made for the provision of a new infant school at St. John's Parish, County Kilkenny; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

Architectural planning for this project is proceeding. It will be considered for inclusion in the national school capital programme in the light of available resources and other commitments and priorities.
