Question:55 Mr. O'Malley asked the Minister for Justice when the new Court of Civil Appeal, as promised in the Programme for a Partnership Government 1993-1997 will be established; and the jurisdiction the court will have.

The legislation required to establish the proposed Court of Appeal and transfer jurisdiction to it is being drafted at present, and will be published as soon as possible.
As indicated in the Programme for a Partnership Government 1993-1997 the new court will have both civil and criminal jurisdiction.
