Vol. 426 No. 2

Written Answers. - Deer Imports.

Seamus Kirk

Question:

62 Mr. Kirk asked the Taoiseach the number and species of deer imported into Ireland in the years from 1989 to 1992; the country or countries of origin of imports; and the names of companies or individuals who imported the animals.

Deer are not separately distinguished in the Customs and Excise Tariff of Ireland. Accordingly the data on imports requested by the Deputy are not available from the Trade Statistics.

Seamus Kirk

Question:

63 Mr. Kirk asked the Minister for Finance the criteria, if any, he sets out for An Post to adjudicate on applications for lottery agencies; and if he decides the number of these agencies to be awarded.

The national lottery is operated under licence by An Post National Lottery Company. The criteria for the award of lottery agencies is a commercial matter for the company over which I have no direct responsibility. Section 7 (1) (B) of the National Lottery Act, 1986, provides that the total number of persons authorised to sell national lottery tickets shall be determined by the company with the consent of the Minister for Finance.
