Vol. 426 No. 2

Written Answers. - County Kildare Garda Number.

Bernard J. Durkan

Question:

68 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Justice the total number of Gardaí available for duty in County Kildare in each of the years from 1988 to 1992; if she expects to have the number increased in the near future; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

The particulars sought in the question are detailed in the following Table:—

TABLE

Manpower

1988

180

1989

183

1990

185

1991

189

1992

187

An additional 2 gardaí were assigned to stations in County Kildare on 12 February 1993, bringing the current strength to 189.
The Garda authorities inform me that the Leixlip area is policed from Lucan station. I have not included the manpower figures for Lucan in the above table. The Garda authorities also inform me that they are keeping the manpower situation in County Kildare under continuous review.
