Vol. 426 No. 2

Written Answers. - County Dublin Court Decisions.

Chris Flood

Question:

75 Mr. Flood asked the Minister for Justice the position with regard to the special investigation into the alleged wrongful conviction of persons (details supplied) in County Dublin; if she has received the report of the investigation team; and if she will publish this report.

Michael McDowell

Question:

79 Mr. M. McDowell asked the Minister for Justice if she has received the Attorney General's report in relation to the case of persons (details supplied); and if she will make a statement on the matter.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 75 and 79 together.

The House will be aware that in October 1990 the former Attorney General requested the Director of Public Prosecutions to prepare a report on the case referred to in the questions.
The position is that the Attorney General has completed his examination of the report of the Director of Public Prosecutions and other relevant documentation. He has also examined the formal petitions for pardon presented to the Government in this case.
I am examining the Attorney General's findings at present with a view to bringing the matter to Government in the very near future.
In the circumstances the House will appreciate that I cannot make any comment on the matter at this stage.
