Vol. 427 No. 2

Written Answers. - Ballyogan (Leopardstown Area Dublin) Education Facilities.

Eamon Gilmore

Question:

200 Mr. Gilmore asked the Minister for Education the plans, if any, she has to provide a primary school in the Ballyogan/Leopardstown area of County Dublin, the extent to which these plans have been advanced; when the school will be built; and the provision, if any, she is making in the interim for the primary education of the growing population in this area.

My Department has no plans to provide a primary school in the Ballyogan/Leopardstown area in the immediate future.

However, in view of further housing developments planned for the area, the matter is being kept under periodic review.

Parents in Ballyogan are at present sending their children to a number of accessible national schools, one of which has a considerable amount of surplus capacity. In that light the question of an interim provision being made by my Department for Ballyogan children does not arise.
