Vol. 427 No. 2

Written Answers. - Defence Forces Pension.

Máirín Quill

Question:

117 Miss Quill asked the Minister for Defence the reason a person (details supplied) in Cork has received no increase in his Army pension for two years.

The pension of the person referred to by the Deputy is revised in line with general pay increases in the public service. An increase of £21 per annum with effect from 1 November, 1991 and a further increase of £15.24 per annum from 1 January, 1992 together with £42.76 arrears have already been processed for issue as part of the February pension cheque.

The finalisation of the pay increases for general operatives was protracted and as a consequence of this there has been some delay in the calculation and putting on pay of pension increases.

A further increase (approximately £50 per annum) in pension from 1 January 1993 is due in this case and will be issued shortly.
