Vol. 428 No. 6

Written Answers. - Implementation of Culliton Recommendations.

Pat Cox

Question:

22 Mr. Cox asked the Minister for Enterprise and Employment if, in view of the creation of a separate Department of Trade, he will have arrangements made with the various Ministers and Departments involved to ensure that the different recommendations of the Culliton Commission will now be implemented in full without delay and in accordance with the spirit of the Culliton report.

The Cabinet sub-committee charged with responsibility for expediting the implementation of the recommendations of the Moriarty Task Force on the report of the Industrial Policy Review Group (Culliton report) is now nearing completion of its examination of all the recommendations. As part of this work decisions are being taken on target dates for the implementation of recommendations. Once the details on implementation have been decided by the sub-committee, the Government will be asked to adopt the agreed implementation of the Culliton report as a priority programme of change and of reform. I intend to publish details of Government decisions shortly, following the completion of the Government's consideration.
