Vol. 428 No. 6

Written Answers. - Extra School Facilities.

Bernard J. Durkan

Question:

175 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Education if her attention has been drawn to the need to provide extra facilities at Scoil Iognáid Rís before the end of the school year 1992/1993; if she intends to proceed to the bill of quantities stage in the process of this development project before the end of the school year 1992/93; if this facility will be provided on time for the new school year in September 1993; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

I am aware of the need to provide extra facilities at this school. Detailed design documentation in relation to the project is currently being examined in my Department. As soon as the examination of this documentation has been satisfactorily completed the project will be allowed to proceed to the bill of quantities stage.

It has not been possible to include this project in the 1993 second level capital programme because of other demands deemed to be of a higher priority which had to take precedence. It will continue to be considered for inclusion in the programme in the light of available resources and other commitments and priorities.
