96 Mr. G. Mitchell asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry if, in relation to the employment of additional scientific staff financed by industry (details supplied) he will make a statement outlining whether he supports this project or not.
I am committed to the provision of an adequate service in the area referred to in the question. The service has been and continues to be under active consideration by my Department in association with the Department of Finance. Contacts have been maintained with the industry including a meeting with Minister of State, Liam Hyland only last week, at which the position was reviewed and agreement made to have a further meeting in the near future.
