Vol. 429 No. 1

Written Answers. - Irish Intervention Beef.

Seán Barrett

Question:

98 Mr. Barrett asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry if he will take the necessary steps to release supplies of Irish beef stored in intervention to assist in the work of alleviating widespread famine and starvation in Bosnia; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Intervention beef is purchased and stored under EC regulations. Arrangements for its disposal are, accordingly, a matter for the EC Commission. I would be happy to support any food aid initiative proposed by the Commission.
