Vol. 429 No. 5

Written Answers. - Litter Act.

Ivor Callely

Question:

38 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for the Environment if he will give details of the type and number of prosecutions under the Litter Act in the Dublin area; and if he has satisfied himself that the Act is effective and helping to improve the situation.

Wexford): Details of prosecutions under the Litter Act, 1982, in the Dublin area in 1991 were set out in reply to Question No. 207 of 3 November, 1992. Later statistics are not yet available to my Department.

I am satisfied that the Litter Act provides an effective legal framework for local authorities, acting on their own responsibility, to take litter prevention measures in their area.
