Vol. 430 No. 2

Written Answers. - Pre-Retirement Allowance.

Paul Bradford

Question:

127 Mr. Bradford asked the Minister for Social Welfare if a person (details supplied) in County Cork is eligible for an increase in his rate of pre-retirement allowance.

The person concerned is currently in receipt of pre-retirement allowance at the reduced rate of £53.20 per week. Due to budgetary provisions, this rate is due to increase to £55.20 per week from the end of July 1993. This is his appropriate rate of payment based on his means which were assessed at £5.35 per week.

The person concerned had not been in touch with my Department previously seeking an increase in his rate of allowance. However, if he feels that his means have decreased since last assessed, it is open to him to apply to the Department for a review of his means at any time.
