136 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Education if the physical conditions at St. Gabriel's Girls national school, Cowper Street, Dublin 7 have been drawn to her attention; and if her Department will assist with the essential refurbishment required there, particularly as the school catchment area is severely disadvantaged.
There is no application on hands in my Department at present for grant-aid towards the cost of refurbishing the school in question.
In the event of an application been received it will be carefully considered in my Department, in consultation with the school authorities, having regard to the future primary education needs of the area and the best use of available scarce resources. This would include consideration of the advantages and disadvantages of amalgamation.
