Vol. 430 No. 3

Written Answers. - County Kildare Water and Sewerage Schemes.

Bernard J. Durkan

Question:

121 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for the Environment the total funding allocated to Kildare County Council in 1993 towards expenditure on small water and sewerage schemes; the total current requirement of the county under this heading; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Some £4 million has been provided for water and sewerage schemes in County Kildare in the initial 1993 allocation; all of this relates to urgently required major schemes.

While small water and sewerage schemes remain, subject to priority, eligible for financing under the water and sanitary services programme, I cannot say having regard to the existing level of commitments when it may be possible to approve of the small scheme proposals from Kildare County Council currently with my Department.
