Vol. 430 No. 3

Written Answers. - National Museum/National Library.

Ivor Callely

Question:

132 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Arts, Culture and the Gaeltacht the hours and days the National Museum and National Library are open to the public; and his views on whether it would be in the best interest of all concerned if both had similar opening hours.

The information requested by the Deputy is as follows:

National Museum — Opening Hours

Tuesday-Saturday

10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Sunday

2 p.m. to 5 p.m.

National Library — Opening Hours

Monday

10 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Tuesday, Wednesday

2 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Thursday, Friday

10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Saturday

10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

I do not believe that it is necessary to have similar opening hours in the National Museum and the National Library as both institutions cater for different needs.
