Vol. 430 No. 4

Written Answers. - Sale of State Assets.

Pat Cox

Question:

95 Mr. Cox asked the Minister for Finance the amount that has been raised to date by the State through asset disposals anticipated in the budget statement, 1993; and if he will give details of the assets from which these funds have been raised.

The 1993 budget included a figure of £150 million in respect of asset disposals. On 16 April last, the sale of 55 million shares of the State's shareholding in Irish Life plc realised some £104.5 million. The Government has also decided to sell the State's remaining shareholding in Greencore plc and in this regard I would refer the Deputy to my press statement of 5 May 1993 a copy of which I propose to include in the Official Report.
