Vol. 430 No. 4

Written Answers. - Shared Ownership Scheme.

Ivor Callely

Question:

105 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for the Environment the number of people who have availed of the shared ownership aspect of the plan for social housing; if he has received any submissions indicating that Dublin applicants are experiencing difficulties with this particular aspect; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Returns made by local authorities show that they received 3,882 applications, approved 1,874 and completed 724 transactions under the shared ownership system up to 31 March, 1993. The terms of this scheme are currently being reviewed together with the terms of the other schemes introduced in "A Plan for Social Housing". Submissions received and the recommendations of the Lord Mayor's Commission in regard to the shared ownership scheme are being considered in the context of the review.
