Vol. 430 No. 8

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Michael Creed

Question:

190 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the current position with regard to a milk quota lease (details supplied); and if he will approve it.

My Department has no record of this lease. The transfer of quota in this transaction will be subject to the usual investigations as soon as the relevant documentation is furnished.

Theresa Ahearn

Question:

191 Mrs. T. Ahearn asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry when a beef premium and a suckler cow subsidy will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Tipperary; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The person named applied for June 1992 special beef premium scheme grants on 18 animals. He presented only ten of those at inspection and supplied sales dockets in respect of three others. A further animal was tested in his herd after the retention period has elapsed. He has failed to account satisfactorily for the four remaining animals and unless he does so he cannot be paid 1992 special beef premium grants and must be debarred from the 1993 scheme. He did not apply for grants in the December 1992 application period.

His December 1992 suckler cow premium scheme application will be processed as soon as possible.

P. J. Sheehan

Question:

192 Mr. Sheehan asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry when a person (details supplied) in County Cork will receive payment of his farm building grant which was passed for payment three months ago.

This person's application could not be approved for payment until 15 April 1993 as his farm accounts for year ended 31 May 1992 were outstanding.

The file has now been passed to my Department's office in Cavan and payment will issue inside the next four weeks.

P. J. Sheehan

Question:

193 Mr. Sheehan asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry when a person (details supplied) in County Cork will receive payment of his suckler cow and beef premium for 1992.

The person named is not eligible for the 1992 suckler cow premium scheme for small-scale milk producers as he does not have cows in excess of the number deemed necessary to produce his milk quota. He was paid suckler cow premium in 1990 and 1991 but it has since been discovered that he was not eligible for these grants either. He is due grants under the 1992 special beef premium scheme but these are being withheld to offset part of the over-payments of suckler cow premium for 1990 and 1991.

He has been asked to produce evidence of his forage area in connection with his application for the 1992 beef cow scheme in less severely handicapped areas. When he does so his application will be considered further and if in order part of the grants will be used to offset the balance of the overpayment and the remainder will be paid to him.

Gerard Collins

Question:

194 Mr. Collins asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry when payment of a suckler cow grant and a beef grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Limerick.

The person named applied for June 1992 special beef premium scheme on 11 animals but the tag number of one of the 11 animals presented at inspection bore no resemblance to any of the tag numbers listed on his application. He has been requested to explain the absence of one of the animals applied for but he has not done so to date.

His November-December 1992 suckler cow premium scheme application will be processed in due course.

Seymour Crawford

Question:

195 Mr. Crawford asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry when a reactor grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Monaghan.

The reactor grant due to the person named will be paid within the next few weeks.

Seymour Crawford

Question:

196 Mr. Crawford asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the reason for the delay in the payment of suckler cow, cattle headage and beef premia for a person (details supplied) in County Cavan.

The applications of the person named for cattle headage and premium grants were rejected when subjected to a computer validation check. The file in this case is with field staff at present in connection with his December 1992 special beef premium application. When it is returned the problem with the June 1992 applications will be investigated and if found in order payments will then be made as soon as possible.

Seymour Crawford

Question:

197 Mr. Crawford asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the reason cattle headage was not paid to a person (details supplied) in County Monaghan.

The person named has already been paid his 1992 cattle and equines headage scheme grant. grant.
