Vol. 430 No. 8

Written Answers. - County Meath Projects.

Colm M. Hilliard

247 Mr. Hilliard asked the Minister for Education if a decision has been made under Subhead B9 of Vote 26 in regard to financial assistance for projects in County Meath; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

With regard to sport activities the following grants are being made available to County Meath Vocational Education Committee in 1993 for projects in County Meath and the vocational education committee were advised accordingly on 30 March 1993: Youth and Sport/Special Projects £22,000. Sport for All Promotion £2,500.

As regards grants for youth affairs the information is not available in the format requested by the Deputy as grants are paid by my Department to a variety of national and other organisations country-wide rather than directly to a particular county.

A grant of £4,300 was approved earliest this year for the Navan Travellers Committee under the grant scheme for special projects to assist disadvantaged youth. The North-Eastern Health Board as grant administering agency for the project was notified to this effect on 31 March, 1993.
