Vol. 431 No. 5

Written Answers. - Welfare Agency for Children.

Thomas P. Broughan

Question:

77 Mr. Broughan asked the Minister for Health if, in view of the recent Kilkenny incest case, he considers it appropriate to draw all aspects of children's welfare together under a statutory national children's council or to request the Government to establish a Department for children.

The report of the investigation team into the Kilkenny incest case makes no recommendations in relation to either a national children's council or a department for children. I have no plans to initiate such developments.
