Vol. 431 No. 5

Written Answers. - Finglas (Dublin) Teacher.

Noel Ahern

Question:

88 Mr. N. Ahern asked the Minister for Education if she will approve a home/school liaison teacher for Patrician College, Deanstown Avenue, Finglas, Dublin 11, in view of the fact that, at present, the two main feeder schools at St. Fergal's and St. Finian's have a liaison teacher and in view of the social problem and the high percentage of children attending these schools whose parents are unemployed.

In addition to the post of Principal, this school's teacher allocation includes one ex-quota guidance post and one ex-quota disadvantage post.

The disadvantage post was provided to counteract, as far as possible, the impact of disadvantage on the pupils. It was intended that the school authorities would use this resource to provide remedial help to the pupils of the school and to develop home/school liaison in order to advise parents and to involve them in the education of their children.
