Vol. 432 No. 6

Written Answers. - Kinsale (Cork) Rights of Way.

Trevor Sargent

Question:

126 Mr. Sargent asked the Minister for the Environment the action, if any, he proposes to take to ensure that the rights of way at the Old Head of Kinsale, County Cork continue to be accessible to the public as they are now closed off due to construction work which is supposed to take up two years.

My Department has written to Cork County Council asking it to investigate this matter and to ensure that the right of the public to use these rights of way is protected. The Roads Bill, 1991 which has been passed by both Houses of the Oireachtas, will place a statutory obligation on local authorities to protect public rights of way.
