Question:

140 Mr. J. Higgins asked the Minister for the Marine the number of salmon caught in nets and traps by the State fishery company in the River Moy, each week, since the salmon season opened.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 139 and 140 together.

On 1 April 1993 I announced the transfer of responsibility for the Moy fishery from my Department to the Central Fisheries Board. All matters relating to its operation and management, including protection, should be addressed to the Central Fisheries Board.
