Vol. 432 No. 6

Written Answers. - FÁS Training Programmes.

Avril Doyle

Question:

107 Mrs. Doyle asked the Minister for Enterprise and Employment if he has satisfied himself that the taxpayer is receiving value for money from the FÁS training programmes.

FÁS training programmes are funded by the Exchequer, the European Social Fund and a levy collected from certain sectors of Irish industry. The effectiveness of FÁS training programmes is, inter alia, the subject of continuous evaluation by FÁS and by my own Department — where a dedicated EC funded Evaluation Unit has now been established — in order to determine that their stated objectives are being achieved, including the issue of value for money.
