Vol. 432 No. 7

Written Answers. - Home Help Organisations Funding.

Tony Gregory

Question:

113 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Health if he will examine the reasons for the delay in confirming budgets for home help organisations in areas of the Eastern Health Board region as several groups are experiencing severe difficulties with their banks due to lack of funds.

Earlier this year the Eastern Health Board informed all the home help organisations, including those in Area 7, of their provisional allocation for 1993. This allocation was based on 1992 activity levels. In the interim, the board ensured that each organisation had sufficient resources to provide a service and each organisation received prompt monthly payments.

I am pleased to inform the Deputy that the board are in the process of advising the home help organisations of their final allocation for 1993.
