Vol. 432 No. 7

Written Answers. - Kerry River Dam.

Jimmy Deenihan

Question:

14 Mr. Deenihan asked the Minister for the Environment the position regarding the provision of a dam on the Smearla River, Derrindaffe, Duagh, County Kerry.

Kerry County Council are preparing proposals for the provision of a regional water supply scheme to serve the north-east area of the county. Impoundment of the Smearla river at Beheens is envisaged. Proposals for site investigations and topographical survey are with my Department. Before these can be approved it will be necessary for the county council to complete local consultations regarding design quantities, including industrial quantities.
