Question:

20 Mr. J. Bruton asked the Minister for the Environment the consultative process which he intends to undertake prior to making a submission to Government in respect of the appropriate method of selection by Ireland of its nine representatives on the European Committee on the regions.

The Association of Municipal Authorities of Ireland and the General Council of County Councils, who represent the elected members of local authorities, have already been consulted in this matter and I will be consulting the other Ministers concerned before finalising proposals for submission to Government.
