Vol. 432 No. 7

Written Answers. - Wooden House Refurbishment.

Proinsias De Rossa

Question:

28 Proinsias De Rossa asked the Minister for the Environment if he has received a proposal from Dublin Corporation for the refurbishment of the so-called wooden house in Ballymun, Dublin 11 which one of his Ministers of State recently inspected; if he proposes to make moneys available, under the remedial works scheme, for their refurbishment; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

This project is not among the thirteen proposals which Dublin Corporation submitted and prioritised for funding under the remedial works scheme. However, the corporation did seek approval to meet the cost of the work, together with a number of other projects, from their housing capital receipts. However, as these receipts, which arise from the proceeds of tenant purchase schemes, are required to fund the authority's 1993 housing construction/remedial works programme, the corporation were informed that the question of using them for other purposes did not arise.
