Vol. 432 No. 7

Written Answers. - ENFO Services.

Desmond J. O'Malley

Question:

47 Mr. O'Malley asked the Minister for the Environment the plans, if any, he has to expand the ENFO service throughout the country; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

ENFO has been developing its services outside of Dublin and, in line with the Programme for a Partnership Government, will continue to do this.

At this stage, ENFO is providing information on a widespread basis through display facilities in local authority public offices and public libraries. In addition, computers have been installed with ENFO assistance in 34 public libraries spread over 24 counties which give direct on-line access by the public to the ENFO database; expansion of this network is continuing.

ENFO supplies material to schools and youth clubs and responds to requests for information on a countrywide basis. It also participates in locally based exhibitions and conferences.
