Vol. 432 No. 7

Written Answers. - European Elections.

Trevor Sargent

Question:

66 Mr. Sargent asked the Minister for the Environment the changes in the procedures and constituencies which have been decided for the European elections in 1994.

The European Parliament Constituency Commission, whose report was laid before the Dáil last week, recommended the retention of the present formation of European Parliament constituencies, subject to the transfer of a seat from the Munster to the Leinster constituency. A Bill to implement this recommendation will be introduced later this year. The Bill will provide an opportunity to consider whether there should be any changes in procedure in relation to elections to the Parliament.
