Vol. 432 No. 8

Written Answers. - Allowance Overpayment.

Bernard Allen

Question:

104 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Health if he will investigate the way in which an overpayment made on disabled person's maintenance allowance to a person (details supplied) in County Cork occurred; the reason that this overpayment is being taken back by reducing the allowance in this case; if he has satisfied himself that the recovery of the overpayment in this case is legal; and if he will ensure that the full allowance is paid to this person in view of the hardship being caused.

Payment of disabled persons maintenance allowance in any individual case is a matter for the health board concerned. Accordingly, the Deputy's question has been referred to the Chief Executive Office, Southern Health Board with a request that he examine the matter and reply directly to the Deputy as a matter of urgency.
